Dear Readers
With a heavy heart we are writing this post to tell you that this year’s Awesome Book Awards event on April 30th has been cancelled. Like your pupils we are really disappointed but the uncertainty around school closures and illness following the Easter break leaves us with no option.
At such a time children need the magic of books and stories more than ever. So we’ll continue with this year’s awards, in a slightly different way.
First, we’ll be posting lots of content on our website and social media feeds; please search @CranleighABA on Twitter and Instagram to find and follow us. Please follow us and get involved! We’ll all be working remotely and parents will need things to get their children through school closures and holidays so please do share our links with the parents of all your readers. Perhaps this is a good chance to get other pupils involved in reading the books? Since no-one can attend the event there is no need to restrict reading numbers.
Please forward this information on to share links with the parents of your readers and ask them to look at our website, follow our social media channels and get their child involved. If they’d like to send us reviews of their favourite books we’d love to share them on our website. Please encourage reviews to be sent to us in the usual way to info@awesomebookawards.com. If they film themselves reading an extract or a review we’d love to share that too.
As many schools are likely to be closed we have amended the voting system this year. We no longer need votes to be submitted by schools. We are inviting all children at registered schools to take part in the Awesome Book Awards 2020 by voting as individuals at home, with the help of their parents, carers or guardians. Teachers and Librarians may also submit their own vote as individuals this year. If you have not done so already, please encourage your children to get reading and take the time to submit their vote via our Google Form. If you have any problems with submitting your vote please send an email to info@awesomebookawards.comso that a member of our team can help.
